MINES

Crowders Mountain Mine - was a rich producer.

The Kings Mountain Mine - is located about 2 miles south of the town of Kings Mountain, near the Gaston Cleveland County line. The lode deposits at Kings Mountain was worked intermittently from 1834 until 1895.

Long Creek Mine - was a lode gold mine.

Mountain Mine - had gold in placers.

Oliver Mine - is located on the west side of the Catawba River.

Rhodes Mine - was a lode gold mine.

Whiteside Mine - has gold in placers.

SUGGESTED PROSPECTING AREAS:

Catawba River - may prove profitable for a large dredge.

Long Creek - contains placer gold.
